I am in LOVE again (don't tell my wife)
I know, I know most of you guys ride road bikes (see 'the POLL' for evidence of that) but I just had to tell somebody. I want to scream from the hilltops. I have waited a long time for one such as she... She has 6 inches of travel up front and 5 in the rear. disc brakes and dressed in her XTR finery she weighs in at a scant 25 lbs.

that's right 25 lbs... at least that is what the Santa Cruz website claims. And this ain't no x-country, weight weenie rig... 17-18 years ago Santa Cruz was just a minor skateboard company, but I rode their boards. those boards cost around $55 my Heckler (if I can ever scrounge it up) will cost $1700 frame and fork. but check out that fork. The Maverick fork: 6 inches of air sprung, oil-damped, triple clamped, 32mm stanchion`d updside down fork... and it weighs less than 3.5 lbs the upper crown is welded instead of bolted together, for superior strength and stiffness... and controlling the boing in the back is Progressive's 5th element. So named for the FIVE different adjustments. Basically this shock makes its money by distinguishing between the slow action of pedal feedback and the quick action of changing ground terrain. anyway... just when I start trying to get humble with my bike needs. Santa Cruz drops this bomb on me. It seems like only 6 months ago that I sold my Santa Cruz Bullit and embarked on my venture to find my perfect bike. light enough to yank around, strong enough to get me home every night. 4 frames and countless components later (and actually 6 months) I have a bike that weighs 40lbs chronic knee pain and and a hankerin for something different.
